“Food is for eating, and good food is to be enjoyed... I think food is, actually, very beautiful in itself.”

Delia Smith

One of my favourite things in life is a good breakfast with and delicious cup of coffee.

These are my top places to go to and have great food knowing you’re eating a minimally processed food with joy of good taste

Jo and the Juice box

Joe & The Juice is an obvious choice for many, and we all know their famous spicy tuna sandwich is a must-try. But what really stands out to me is their approach to smoothies. Now, I’m not usually a smoothie fan, but the way they craft theirs is different. They don’t just load them up with sugary fruit; they include a balanced mix of vegetables and healthy fats, turning what could be a simple juice into a nourishing meal. It’s a perfect pick-me-up, not only delicious but also satisfying, whether in the morning or as a midday boost. You can check them out here.

Balans

Balans is one of my favourite spots for breakfast. They focus on healthier cooking by using olive oil instead of butter, which makes a big difference in both taste and nutrition. My go-to dish is their scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and avocado. It’s simple, yet packed with flavor, and always leaves me feeling energized for the day. The atmosphere is cozy, and the menu offers a great variety of wholesome options. If you’re looking for a delicious, health-conscious meal to start your morning, Balance is the place to be. You can check them out here.

OREE

Oree is a fantastic spot to enjoy a cup of coffee, and I have to say, they make the best coffee around. Every cup is rich and full of flavor, making it a perfect start to the day. Along with their coffee, their chicken avocado sandwiches are a standout. What sets them apart is the quality of their sourdough bread — it’s made with their own in-house starter, ensuring every bite is as fresh and authentic as it gets. If you’re looking for a cozy place with great food and even better coffee, Oree is a must-visit. Check them out here.

Caravan-Canary Wharf

Caravan is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, and more. I’m a huge fan of their scrambled eggs for breakfast, but their menu also offers a variety of delicious and authentic dishes that you can’t miss. Whether you’re craving something savory or sweet, Caravan has something for everyone. Check them out here

Plan B in Finsbury Park

I recently stumbled upon Plan B in Finsbury Park, London, purely by chance, but I quickly fell in love with it. Tucked away in a cozy corner, this delightful Italian restaurant has a charm that is both welcoming and unpretentious. What caught my attention immediately was how authentic it felt, offering a true taste of Italian culinary tradition right in the heart of North London. The highlight of my experience was talking to the chef, who was kind enough to share a bit about their cooking philosophy. I was thrilled to learn that they exclusively use olive oil in their cooking, which immediately elevated my expectations. This commitment to high-quality, health-conscious ingredients resonated with me, as I believe that the best meals are not only flavourful but also nourish the body. I decided to order the mackerel with quinoa, and it turned out to be an absolute delight to my taste buds. The mackerel was cooked to perfection, its rich, flavorful taste balancing with the lightness of the quinoa. The dish was enhanced by a variety of seasonal vegetables, which added freshness, crunch, and a vibrant colour palette to the plate; and one strong step towards your 30 colours of vegetable a week. Each element of the dish complemented the others, creating a delicious of flavours that was both satisfying and memorable. What truly stood out was the simplicity and quality of the ingredients that goes to show how easy healthy cooking should be. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, the mackerel was perfectly seasoned, and the quinoa added a subtle nuttiness to the dish. I could tell that the kitchen puts a lot of care into sourcing their ingredients, and it made all the difference. The olive oil used in cooking added a smooth, rich undertone that tied everything together seamlessly. Plan B is more than just a place to eat—it’s an experience that celebrates the beauty of Italian cuisine. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner, this restaurant is a hidden gem in Finsbury Park. If you’re a lover of simple, authentic Italian food with a focus on quality ingredients, this place is definitely worth a visit. For more information, check out their website here

Keonbae, Royal Wharf, East London

I recently visited Keonbae, located in Royal Wharf, and had the chance to speak with the chef about their bone broth. As a fan of soups, especially during the colder autumn and winter months (and before my period), I wanted to ensure the broth wasn’t ultra-processed. It turns out their broth is simmered overnight using actual bones and beef, rather than using dried packs and boiling water. This attention to detail makes their bone broth something I truly enjoy each time I visit. Their broth comes with noodles, but I tend to focus more on the broth itself. They also offer vegetable options, allowing you to cook raw vegetables yourself at the table, giving the meal a lovely, fresh flavor without any additives. I’ve shared several pictures of my meals here on my Instagram page, and I love that the food has real meaning and purpose behind it—perfect for once when an influencer takes a picture for more than just aesthetics. One of their standout items is the tongue, simply seasoned with lime, salt, and pepper, making it both nutritious and delicious. While they do offer some glazed and sauced options, I prefer to steer clear of those. They also have a fast-food, pre-prepared section that I’m not particularly fond of, but it seems to be popular with other customers. As they say, each to their own! Remedy Kitchen - “now that is a recommendation I like to recommend”

I recently tried Remedy Kitchen, a restaurant on Deliveroo, and was impressed by their commitment to natural, wholesome ingredients. Their menu features a variety of nutritious options, from bowls to wraps, with ingredients like quinoa and whole grains that make the meals both healthy and satisfying. While I view Remedy Kitchen as a convenient option rather than an everyday meal, it’s one I feel good about when I indulge, knowing I’m nourishing my body with every bite. I usually go for the salmon bowl, which comes with avocado and quinoa as a base. What I love most is the flexibility—there’s an array of ingredients you can add to customise your bowl. I often include ginger for its anti-inflammatory benefits, but the possibilities are endless, allowing for a truly personalised meal every time. The wraps are equally impressive, made with whole grains that offer a healthier alternative to traditional wraps. Whether you’re in the mood for a bowl or a wrap, Remedy’s meals are designed to nourish, making it easy to enjoy convenience without sacrificing health. I highly recommend giving Remedy a try, especially if you’re looking for a quick yet nutritious meal that doesn’t compromise on flavor or quality. Check them out on Deliveroo. Blank Street

Blank Street is a delightful cafe that offers a unique and cozy experience with a focus on quality, even if their food selection is limited. The star of the menu, in my opinion, is their matcha—smooth, flavorful, and deliciously balanced, it’s truly on another level. If you’re a matcha fan, this one is a must-try, and it will likely become a favorite.

When it comes to food, Blank Street keeps it simple, and while the options are few, they’re thoughtfully prepared. Their overnight oats are an excellent choice—done beautifully, with just the right texture and flavour. It’s clear they pay attention to detail here, and it shows in the quality of this dish.

On the pastry front, I’m not as enthusiastic, as they don’t quite stand out to me. However, if there’s a baguette on offer, especially a sourdough one, I’m all in. I could enjoy one of those any time, with open, happy arms—it’s a simple pleasure done right that would make any day better.

All in all, Blank Street is worth a visit. I’d highly recommend stopping by to form your own opinion and see what stands out to you. The matcha alone is worth the trip, and I’m sure you’ll find something else on the menu that makes it worth your while. if you want to visit click here
